Samba Room Hosts Junior Achievement Professional Connection

June 10, 2009 (Fort Lauderdale, FL) Junior Achievement of South Florida recently held their Professional Connection at the Samba Room on Las Olas and raised over $900. For a $15 donation, guests received one drink and appetizers.

The Junior Achievement Professional Connection is the auxiliary / networking organization that helps support the 600-plus-classroom volunteers that teach Junior Achievement economics and business programs to students in Broward/South Palm Beach counties. Socials are held on the second Wednesday of every month at various locations throughout South Florida. Corporate Annual Sponsors include Allstate, AT&T, Consolidated Credit Counseling Services, and Transworld Business Brokers. The next event is Wednesday, July 8 at Christine's on Oakland Park Boulevard with a $15 entry fee.

Dramatically enhancing its ability to teach and inspire students in Palm Beach and Broward Counties, Junior Achievement of South Florida has embarked on an ambitious, cutting-edge educational endeavor involving two new programs: JA BizTown and JA Finance Park. The mandated programs will be housed at Junior Achievement World at the Huizenga Center at Broward College. Construction has begun and is scheduled to open July 2009. The 59,000 square foot facility, the largest of its kind in the world, will be dedicated to the effective and practical teaching of business, entrepreneurship, and personal finance for 5th and 8th grade students.
