Volunteer
At JA World, two "mini-city" experiential programs, JA BizTown and JA Finance Park, will significantly transform how every local 5th and 8th grade student in Broward County Public Schools will be taught to view the world of work, free enterprise, and his or her possibilities for success. After 25 hours of curriculum taught in the classroom by the teacher, students will embark on their JA World experience where they'll put into practice what they've learned back at school. On-site Volunteers are needed to help guide, assist, and facilitate students in a specific storefront during their on-site simulation of JA BizTown or JA Finance Park. The time commitment is approximately 6.5 hours. Times vary per school schedule. The first 45-minutes of the day will include all necessary training for the on-site visit. Information will be collected for personal background checks. Specific dates and details will be discussed with volunteers individually. These on-site visits will continue daily throughout the school year. For more information contact Brandon Brown at 954-979-7114 or brandon@jasouthflorida.org.
In-Class Program Volunteer
We have elementary, middle, and high school classroom curricula designed to teach elementary students about their roles as individuals, workers, and consumers and to prepare middle grade and high school students for key economic and workforce issues they will face. In addition to bringing the free enterprise system to life in the classroom, Junior Achievement programs teach young people the importance of staying in school. These programs are the backbone of all Junior Achievement programming around the world. We need volunteers to teach weekly, hour-long lessons in local classrooms. These programs last from 5 to 10, weeks, depending on the grade level. Necessary program materials and 2 hours of training are provided by the JA staff.
