Volunteer - JA World Volunteer FAQ's
What is JA World?
At JA World, two "mini-city" experiential programs, JA BizTown and JA Finance Park, will significantly transform how every local 5th and 8th grade student in Broward County Public Schools will be taught to view the world of work, free enterprise, and his or her possibilities for success. After 25 hours of curriculum taught in the classroom by the teacher, students will embark on their JA World experience where they'll put into practice what they've learned back at school. Volunteers are needed to help guide, assist, and facilitate students in a specific storefront during their on-site simulation of JA BizTown or JA Finance Park.
How much time will it take?
The time commitment is approximately 5-6 hours. Times vary per school schedule. The first 45- minutes of the day will include all necessary training for the on-site visit.
What type of training is involved?
The JA World volunteer training takes approximately 30-45 minutes. Training covers what will take place in BizTown when the students arrive as well as an overview for each store front.
Who can volunteer?
Volunteers are typically business professionals, college students, community members, or parents who want to play an active part in participating in the education of students around them.
What if my schedule is always changing?
If you want to volunteer but have a varying schedule, it will be best to pick a day where you can devote yourself for the entire time period needed.
What local areas are involved with JA World?
Junior Achievement provides programs to Broward and south Palm Beach counties.
Am I qualified to volunteer at JA World?
Volunteers come from all walks of life. A volunteer could be a valued employee, a retiree, a parent, or a positive and inspirational college student or high school student. A desire to be an inspirational role model is a must, along with the ability to communicate, motivate, and create enthusiasm.
How do I get signed up to volunteer at JA World?

I want to be involved but I simply do not have time to volunteer - what else can I do?
There are numerous fundraisers including the Golf Invitational, Bowl-A-Thon, and many more special events where you can participate. You may also choose to host a student (Job Shadow) or a class to visit your office for one day. We would love to help you get involved in any way that you can!
