Classroom Programs Manager

Junior Achievement of South Florida (JA) inspires and prepares youth to succeed in a global economy. JA provides real-world training in financial literacy including budgeting, spending, investing and the use of credit; offers cutting-edge skill-building opportunities that enable young people to explore meaningful, productive careers; teaches students how to start businesses; and introduces entrepreneurial values that strengthen workplaces. Last year, with the help of over 7,000 trained corporate and community volunteers, JA delivered twenty-plus various programs to almost 50,000 students in classrooms throughout Broward and south Palm Beach Counties.

Position Description:

This role manages Junior Achievement’s Kindergarten – 12th grade Classroom Programs with emphasis on cultivating school/teacher relationships, and managing approximately 300 volunteers, including recruitment, training, placement, support, and recognition. These volunteers work within school classrooms in Broward and south Palm Beach counties to teach JA programs to approximately 8,000 students each year.

The Classroom Programs Manager facilitates the activities of volunteers and teachers, upholds quality standards for the organization, assures adherence to program models and expansion, and develops and maintains positive educator relationships at all levels. The Classroom Programs Manager reports directly to the Vice President of Programs and Community Partnerships. This position also works closely with the Director of Community Outreach, Marketing Manager, the entire Programs team, donors, board members, teachers, students and volunteers. This position is a key member of the Programs team ensuring that the programs are successfully implemented while key relationships are cultivated and nurtured.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement Classroom Programs to impact approximately 8,000 K-12 students each school year.
  • Maintain strong understanding of new and existing JA K-12 programs.
  • Develop and maintain educator relationships to secure schools and classrooms for program implementation.
  • Assure program quality through teacher and volunteer communication, classroom visits, and data collection and analysis.
  • Manage curriculum ordering, invoicing, inventory, and delivery to appropriate volunteers and schools.
  • Maintain accurate financial records; prepare invoice requests; manage budget with no overages; properly code and organize all expenses.
  • Properly document completed programs via JA USA program management processes.
  • Oversee funding and/or donor requirements specific to Classroom Programs such as capturing photos, testimonials, reports, etc. Work with Grant Administrator to collect report data.

Volunteer Management:

  • Maintain a volunteer base of approximately 300 volunteers through creative and consistent recognition and communication.
  • Recruit new volunteers through a variety of methods including large/small group presentations, outreach to possible corporate partners, parent groups, etc.
  • Use JA USA’s web browser-based system to communicate with and match potential volunteers with corresponding classroom programs.
  • Organize and implement volunteer trainings and orientations.
  • Maintain regular positive communication with volunteer groups and individuals to cultivate ongoing relationships.
  • Keep accurate and organized volunteer records in web-based relationship management program (BCRM)
  • Work with Director of Community Outreach and Manager of Strategic Partnerships to develop and implement recognition programs that are of interest and value to participants, including events, scholarships, awards, and gifts.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • 2 or more years of experience with volunteer recruitment, program management or related field
  • Experience in customer service best practices a plus
  • Knowledge and experience in K-12 education field a plus

Schedule and Compensation:

  • This is a salaried position with a compensation package that includes generous Paid Time Off, medical benefits fully paid for the individual and additional workplace benefits.
  • Compensation range: +/-$35,000 (commensurate with experience).
  • Weekly schedule ranges but is approximately 8:30am – 5pm with additional time as needed to complete projects. Evening hours are sometimes required.
  • Occasional special event support on weeknights, weekends, and holidays.
