I WANT TO BE A VIRTUAL MENTOR TO OUR STUDENTS
Junior Achievement of South Florida is seeking virtual volunteers to mentor our students. We have determined areas of need in elementary, middle and high school that we would like to match to experts in the community. Some examples include meeting a Chief Financial Officer, understanding how to manage money, and determining the economic implication of the current global situation.
I WANT TO BE A VIRTUAL JA CAREER SPEAKER
JA is also looking for virtual volunteers to share their “job story”. Our goal is to provide students with a broadened spectrum of jobs in South Florida while also giving guidance, reassurance, and perspective during this pandemic; and provide teachers with a free online resource, easy to assign and easy to assess.
Career Speaker Series Questions:
- Introduce yourself with your name, job, any family, or personal information you’d like to share.
- What did you do after high school? Did you go straight to college and if so did you major in the field you are currently in? Expound.
- What does a typical day look like for you (when you aren’t socially distancing). Do you work M-F? Weekends? How much do you travel?
- What do you hope people learn out of this temporary change in our world and our new normal? What are POSITIVE things you’ve observed that come out of challenging times? How did you prepare financially, if at all, for a situation such as this?
